A-to-Z Bar Crawl: Q

We gave up the quest to find a real Q bar, and inevitably found ourselves at the Quaker Steak & Lube’s North Fayette location. There was a good turnout, with April, Karbo, Kevin, Meredith, Mop, Paige, and Ron.

Everyone except Kevin and Ron opted for sandwiches instead of wings. There were plenty of pitchers of Yuengling going around (that Meredith can really pound).

A-to-Z Bar Crawl: P

The triumvirate of Beth, Kevin, and Ron partook of the hearty German victuals at the grand old North Side beer hall, the Pennsylvania Brewing Company. Ron had some sort of chicken thingy, and Beth and Kevin split the Schweinebraten and Chicken Paprika, and left barely enough room for a slice of Oreo cheesecake. The Penn Dark and Maibock were dependably tasty.

They also took advantage of the opportunity to buy advance tickets for the Pennsylvania Microbrewers Festival on June 3.

A-to-Z Bar Crawl: O

Beth, Kevin, and Ron enjoyed the sandwiches at the Oregon Bar & Grille. They have a pretty good beer list for a sports bar, but most of the better selections are not available. The waitress said that is because they are changing distributors, but Beth and Kevin got that same story from them last fall…

A-to-Z Bar Crawl: N

Beth and Kevin were late again, due to problems at work, but Ron was dutifully waiting at the bar of the North Park Lounge Clubhouse at 8:00. There was a respectable crowd, but a table for three was available right away.

The meal was hot wings, cheese sticks, and potato skins, all of which lived up to their unhealthy yet delicious reputations.

The party broke up around 10:30 at the end of regulation play of the Penguins-Flyers playoff. It was a good thing, because that was the game that ended at 2:30am after five overtimes.
